At Growth Animation we offer workshops that allow participants to explore the wonderful world of animation and film-making. Our workshops give individuals the tools and skills necessary to tell their own stories through animation within a fun and collaborative environment.
Growth Workshops are run by professional animators with experience working with a diverse range of young people of all ages. We are committed to cultivating a safe space to learn and create in, and ensure all delivery staff are covered by the PVG Disclosure Scotland scheme.

Animation Taster Day
Dive into the world of animation at our Taster Day Workshops. Participants will jump between stations and unleash creativity trying out various animation techniques, such as traditional hand-drawn animation, stop motion, and digital animation. The session will give you an introduction to the possibilities of animation in a fun and interactive way!

Stop Motion Animation
Bring your objects to life one frame at a time during our Stop Motion workshops. Play with clay, paper, everyday objects or even learn to make your own puppet before creating your own masterpieces in front of a camera. These workshops are great for both individual and team activities. Get involved now!

2D Animation
Learn the principles at the heart of every animation during our 2D workshops. Using both hand drawn and digital methods, participants will learn key skills that make animations move in exciting ways. Led by expert animators, you’ll grasp the essentials of 2D animation, from squash and stretch to timing and movement. Create your own short animations and leave with the skills and confidence to continue your animation journey on your own. Get ready to bring your ideas to life!

Phonotrope
The Phonotrope workshop is perfect for a half day or full day event and is one of the most immediate ways to make animation (with little technical input). Great for an introduction on how to make things move. Using a light, record player, a video camera and your Phonotrope template, watch your drawings rotate into animation... perfect for all ages.

Become a character designer in our Character design workshops. Learn important skills and layouts for character design as well as have the space to create your very own characters. Improve your drawing, visual communication and creativity skills with this fun workshop.

Sensory & Play
Our sensory and play workshop has been created for those not ready to worry about the technical side of animation. Merging tactile and textural materials such as sand, fabric and paint, participants will have the messy and fun chance to make experimental films. Explore and create surreal films under the guidance and support of Growth's experienced delivery team.
